A Cizerolle : vendanges 1933-1934

1933: From the Cizerolle estate, winemakers, hoes on their shoulders, go to work with their horses and their tools. Between the rows of vines farmers weed with animal-drawn ploughs. The actual picking of the grapes is carried out by hand, mainly by women, while men carry on their shoulders filled comportes (big wooden buckets with two handles) up to the cart and its team of oxen. Back at the estate, the comportes are taken up directly from the cart.

1934 The pickers leave the vines together on the cart. On the spot, baskets full of grapes are emptied into comportes in a joyful atmosphere, the game consisting of crushing whole bunches on the face of coworkers.
