Oloron actualités – Les obsèques du lieutenant aviateur Adam Gironne

The funeral of Airforce Lieutenant Adam Gironne, who died during an exercise, takes place in Oloron Sainte-Marie on a rainy day. The official cortege opens with the president of the brotherhood surrounded by choir boys. After them, a troop of armed men precedes a group of children in traditional costumes. To the sound of the brass band, women and men, sheltered by their umbrellas, walk in front of the horse-drawn hearse, escorted by soldiers in uniform. A delegation from the Pau Aviation Centre and numerous companies related to aeronautics attend the ceremonies, taking part in the parade under the banners of their companies. At the cemetery, where the crowd gathers around the tomb of the aviator, several speeches are delivered; the first of them is by Mr Escoubes, a close relation of the lieutenant. Afterwards, Captain Thierry Bernard pays tribute to him before giving the floor to Mr Michel Cazaux, mayor of Oloron, and the sub-prefect.
