Essai nucléaire à Tahiti

The flight in helicopter over an atoll in French Polynesia shows fallen trees, beaches with strange colours, a shark lost in reefs with little water. The route continues by road until we arrive in the naval base of the National Navy where the launchers are installed. Several helicopters approach the deck of a ship that is used as a heliport. Then, it is by sea that we reach a military ship, which will be the observation post. On the way, a tanker refuels at sea from the warship. After the final preparations all the present civilians and military personnel gather on the deck, equipped with observation masks and image recording devices of all kinds (photo cameras, cine cameras...), to observe the explosion of the atomic bomb. The white smoke mushroom takes a long time to dissipate. The officers and officers of high-rank exchanged a few words while above them a jumbo jet flew in circles. Finally, after some manoeuvering, a helicopter comes to retrieve from the site of the explosion what seems to be the nuclear warhead. The film finishes with other aerial views (taken from the return plane) of Polynesian landscapes.
