Nouveau Théâtre : 1925 - 1950

Film shot in 1950, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the New Theatre in Perpignan. The theatre was founded by the same Joan Font who opened in 1910 the first cinema hall in Perpignan, the Castillet. The inauguration took place on 18th October, 1925. The hall was used exclusively as a theatre until the advent of the talkies in 1929. Thanks to a press article and some photographs, the film traces the history of the place, scrolling images of the facade decorated with the poster of Lubitsch's The Merry Widow (1935), the advertisements for Atlantis (1930) King Kong (1933) and Wings (1926) and, finally, the auditorium and the projection box in 1950.
