Perpignan de 1959 à 1977

A documentary commissioned by the Mayor of Perpignan. Justification of urban development and modernization, and restructuring carried out by the municipality under the mandate of Paul Alduy including : new structures for old slaughterhouses; destruction of the old market building, constuction of a new barracks; destruction of Cafe de la Paix; inauguration of the Arminat bridge; modernization crossroads Garegliano and Place de la Resistance; Boulevard walnut; inauguration of Treilles street, building of new bridges on the roads to Thuir and Prades; construction of parking at Place de la République ; demolition of the school Arago; construction of the car park above the Ganganeil creek; development of la Poudrière; general sanitation and clean up of the city; lower river channeled and diverted; new waste treatment; construction of 5000 social housing units; images of schools and school canteens; the creation of the school of Fine Arts, the University of Perpignan, the Gilbert Brutus stadium, and the gym and pool of Champ de Mars; parks and gardens of Perpignan (Saint Gaudérique, Miranda, Saint Jacques, berges de la Têt); restoration of the Château Roussillon tower and images of archaeological excavation; pedestrian areas , museums , and Casa Pairal are all explored. We are also shown nurseries, socio- cultural centers, the Annexes of the mayor, the northern industrial area, the creation of the convention center, the restaurant La Chapelle as well as other urban planning projects (construction of the forum, the palace exhibitions and new town).
